If I only knew then what I know now:
Dear Ray,
Don’t be afraid of the unknown. Be adventurous. Get out of town. Don’t let your fear of failing or not being supported stop you from leaving and doing what you want, you will regret it later.
Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Yes you have a dream, but give yourself options. Life happens so allow yourself to have options to choose from. Have several back up plans in case your plan A doesn’t work out.
What you are going through now will eventually pass. I know it seems like the end of the world, but it’s not. Trust me, things will get better. God is by your side guiding you, just be patient, love. You will be stronger after this. This will be apart of your testimony one day. Keep your head looking up always.
If it is your dream, go for it. Don’t let what others have to say discourage you from your dream. If it’s in your heart then believe that it is for you. Do whatever you have to do to achieve your dream and leave all the negativity behind you.
Watch how much you share with others. Not every person you meet and come across has your best interest at heart. While it is great to be your friendly, personable self, be cautious of getting close to fast. Be weary of how much you share in the beginning. Watch out for enemies in disguise.
Save your graduation money! The superficial part of my letter but, save, save, save. That money will be useful later on. Be wise in your spending. Only use what you need and keep a budget. You don’t want to be in your second year of college now wishing for a little financial cushioning.
Be confident and believe in yourself, Ray. Put God first and continue to pray. Love you,
-Ray
